A self taught artist, he did not draw inspiration from his father, Maqsood Ali, a renowned painter, or any particular art school. His unique artistic voice first garnered national attention with his participation in a two artist exhibition at the Karachi Arts Council in 1962, where he immediately made a mark and won a prize.
